Overseas healthcare professionals

For overseas healthcare professionals, we crucially help with your immigration and validation requirements. You may also require a Visa or Work Permit to be legally allowed to start work.

Validation with these bodies (depending on profession) is necessary for candidates who have qualified outside Ireland:

Work Authorisation

To facilitate the recruitment of suitably qualified people from non-EU countries, a Work Authorisation Scheme has been introduced for Health Professionals in Ireland. This makes it possible for non-EEA professionals, with job offers from employers in Ireland, to obtain all the necessary immigration and employment clearance from the Irish Embassy and/or Consulate in their country of permanent residence. It is a much faster, simpler and cheaper alternative to the work permit regime, and only takes a matter of days to obtain once all of the application requirements are fulfilled.

Work Permits

Recruitment Agencies do not issue work permits, - Irish employers who have a specific job to offer a specific person can only make applications. The Work Permit Section of the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment examines applications from employers and issues permits where appropriate.

Work Visa

To facilitate the recruitment of suitably qualified people from non-EEA (European Economic Area) countries, a Working Visa Scheme has been introduced for Health Professionals in Ireland.

Working Holiday Visa

The Irish Working Holiday Visa is applicable for all Australian and New Zealand citizens under the age of 30. The Visa allows the applicant to enter Ireland and work in any type of employment for periods of no longer than three months. The visa lasts for one year and is non-renewable. The Irish Working Holiday Visa can be obtained via applying through the Irish Embassy/Consulate in your residing country.
